About me

My name's David Martínez and I'm 22. I live in Elche, in the Southeast of Spain. I majored in Translation and Interpreting a year ago, and I've been doing some odd jobs from time to time. At the time of writing this I'm unemployed, so if you like my work for Cartoon Utd., feel free to contact me ^_^. Other than Spanish, Catalan and English, I speak French, Italian and Japanese. My interests are, in no particular order, football, cinema, videogames and literature. More specifically, I support F.C. Barcelona, and, of course, Elche C.F., I love Jean Pierre Jeunet's films (as well as a long list of directors which I won't mention for the sake of space), the Final Fantasy saga (although I don't like the approach it's taking since FFX), and everything Arturo Pérez-Reverte writes.

Me llamo David Martínez y tengo 22 años. Vivo en Elche, al sudeste de España. Me licencié en Traducción e Interpretación hace un año, y desde entonces he estado haciendo algún que otro trabajillo. En el momento de escribir estas líneas no tengo trabajo, así que si te gusta mi traducción de Cartoon Utd., no dudes en contactar conmigo ^_^. Además de español, catalán e inglés, hablo francés, italiano y japonés. Mis aficiones son, no necesariamente en ese orden, el fútbol, el cine, los videojuegos y la literatura. Concretamente, soy del Barça, y, por supuesto, del Elche, me encantan las películas de Jean Pierre Jeunet (y de otros muchos directores que no mencionaré por motivos de espacio), la saga Final Fantasy (aunque no me gusta el enfoque que parece que está tomando desde FFX), y cualquier cosa que haya escrito Arturo Pérez Reverte.

About my team

My team in Hattrick, Hikari no chiimu, is a humble team that earned itself its promotion to Spanish 8th division after three seasons of hard work (although, with this season's removal of bot teams, they were going to promote anyway). My HT philosophy consists mainly in having fun while playing. I don't believe in the powergaming approach of switching trainees every couple of weeks and so on. I look after my players, train them carefully, and manage to earn just what I need to improve the team gradually. My ideal formation would be a diamond-shaped 4-4-2, but, midfield being so important in Hattrick, I usually lean towards a 3-5-2. Key players are the Argentinean keeper Evaristo Bühler and the two young wingbacks Gregg Hughes, from the U.S.A., and Cecil Mould, from Oceania. Those two have been with us since the early days of our first season. Also very important are four Spanish players: the veteran forward Guillermo Rubio, who had an excellent performance last season, the promising inner midfielder Daniel Alberto Armero, and André Dumesnil (defender) and Ignasi Freixes (inner midfielder), who have been with us from the beginning. Also, I have great expectations laid on the two wingers that will be joining us for next season, Jesús Francisco Izquierdo, from Spain, and Jerzy Czora, from Poland. It's going to be a tough season for sure, and I think we'll have to struggle not to demote again, but it'll be exciting to be able to fight again in a non-bot group. If the fans respond, I'll probably add some extra seats to my stadium, Ruka no sutajiamu.

Mi equipo de Hattrick, el Hikari no chiimu, es un equipo humilde que consiguió el ascenso a la 8ª división española después de tres temporadas de duro trabajo (aunque, con la eliminación de los bots de esta temporada, habría ascendido de todas maneras). Mi filosofía en HT consiste sobre todo en divertirme jugando. No creo en esas tácticas que buscan exprimir el juego al máximo, entrenando jugadores durante dos semanas y luego vendiéndolos para sacar beneficios, y ese tipo de cosas. Yo cuido a mis jugadores, los entreno con mimo, y me las apaño para ganar lo que necesito para mejorar el equipo poco a poco. Mi formación ideal sería un 4-4-2 en diamante, pero, como el mediocampo es tan importante en Hattrick, suelo inclinarme por un 3-5-2. Los pilares del equipo son el portero argentino Evaristo Bühler, y los dos jóvenes laterales, Gregg Hughes, de Estados Unidos, y Cecil Mould, de Oceanía. Los dos últimos llevan con nosotros desde los primeros días de nuestra primera temporada. También son muy importantes cuatro jugadores españoles: El veterano delantero Guillermo Rubio, que ha tenido un rendimiento excelente esta temporada, el prometedor mediocentro Daniel Alberto Armero, y André Dumesnil (defensa) e Ignasi Freixes (mediocentro), que llevan con nosotros desde el principio. También tengo grandes esperanzas puestas en los dos centrocampistas de banda que se han unido a nosotros para la próxima temporada, el español Jesús Francisco Izquierdo y el polaco Jerzy Czora. Va a ser una temporada muy dura, y creo que vamos a tener que pelear mucho por la permanencia, pero será interesante poder volver a jugar en un grupo sin bots. Si la afición responde, es probable que decida ampliar mi estadio, el Ruka no sutajiamu.
